Lily Lotus earth month

We celebrate the Earth everyday at Lily Lotus!

Being based in the paradise of Hawaii, the rich natural beauty of the islands are a daily inspiration to our creativity and sustainability. At Lily Lotus all of our clothing is designed using eco-friendly fabrics like organic cotton and bamboo

Green and sustainable fabrics minimize the use of harmful chemicals in farming and processing, saves precious water and reduces polution.  We all know how important it is to put clean, natural, organic food and energy into our bodies. But what about what we put on our bodies? Organic cotton and bamboo are kinder to sensitive skin types and results in less allergic reactions. For individuals seeking to live a mindful and natural lifestyle, natural fibers are clearly the "natural" choice.

Organic Cotton

Lily Lotus active wear is made from 90% Organic Cotton. We use only 10% Spandex, a minimal amount to still offer high quality functional stretch and fabric memory for active movement. Our printed tees are made from 100% Organic Cotton which are free from GMO seeds and are processed without harmful chemicals.

While synthetic performance fabrics do miracles for support, compression and sweat wicking, most can contain a host of different chemicals, retardants and finishing sprays to get those jobs done. Discarded synthetic clothing that ends up in landfill also poses the same environmental hazard as plastic bottles and other non-biodegradable materials.

Bamboo

Lily Lotus uses a 92% Bamboo 8% Spandex blend in our signature lifestyle collection. Bamboo is naturally hypoallergenic making it a wonderful choice for sensitive skin types. Bamboo grows rapidly and naturally without any pesticides, herbicides or fertilizers making it a highly renewable and sustainable resource. Bamboo clothing is biodegradable without decomposing into any pollutants such as methane gas which is commonly produced as a by-product of decomposition in landfills and dumps.

Here are some great articles about synthetic fabric and why it might be time to detox your wardrobe:

In addition to using green fabrics, we are committed to contributing beauty and comfort to the world while maintaining the integrity of our business practices.

PRODUCTION + WHOLESALE

All of our products are proudly sewn, dyed and embellished entirely in the USA using eco-friendly materials. Producing in the USA keeps our carbon footprint small and allows us to maintain a high standard of the working environment for our production teams. We produce to order in small volume, high quality runs to reduce the waste of overproduction.

We are also proud to be partnered with a dye house that shares our sustainable ethics and utilizes solar energy to power its facility. Our signature tie dye washes are achieved using low impact dyes and soy based softeners.

Our wholesale department reuses cardboard boxes whenever possible for shipping distribution. Wholesale volume orders are bulk packaged rather than in individual polybags to reduce plastic usage.

COMMUNITY

Usable product seconds and extra yardage pieces from our productions are donated to a local sewing program for children. Read about Me+U Hawaii here. Other production materials and un-recyclable packaging items are donated to the Art Explorium.

GREEN OFFICE + BOUTIQUES

Every little bit helps so we make the green choice in every way we can around our office. We recycle everything possible. We are free of disposable plastics and bring our own cups to the coffee shop across the street. We use a local water delivery service to hydrate our team while eliminating plastic water bottle usage. We use environmentally friendly cleaning solutions and essential oils that are water way and earth safe. Our boutiques all over reusable shopping bags and encourage customers to reduce packaging consumption.
